Walking the sidelines of the Maplewood versus Glencliff girl’s soccer game, there’s one voice that echoed above all others.  Despite the unfavorable score of the game, freshman defensive player, Kiara English, maintained her enthusiasm and spirit.  According to her head coach, Jared Lincourt, this type of effort has been consistent throughout the season.  “Kiara’s attitude throughout each game was an impressive display of sportsmanship and determination,” said Lincourt.

Kiara is no stranger to athletic accomplishments.  As an eight grader at Isaac Litton Middle School, she was named Athlete of the Year for the 2014-2015 school year.  She excelled as a multi-sport athlete as she competed in basketball, soccer, and track.  Now as a high school freshman at Maplewood High School, she plans to make her mark as a Panther.  When not on the practice field, Kiara can be found volunteering in concessions at football games, singing at her church, or yelling chants as a leader for Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  She plans on remaining active throughout her high school career and wants to attend college to pursue a career in Health Promotion & Fitness.  After speaking with her teachers, her coach says “I have been informed that she is an exemplary student.”

Kiara realizes her high school journey will impact her future.  “My involvement in athletics will help me prepare for college by improving my leadership and athletic skills for the college sports I play.” Catch this young leader in action over the course of her high school career and watch her continue developing as a scholar-athlete.
